Existing Employee Re-Boarding Process

The term Re-Boarding was coined to describe the process of retraining existing employees for new positions or for bringing back workers from extended laidoff periods. The latter scenario is one raising longer-term concerns for two reasons. First, most organizations have undergone significant transformations to survive the downturn. That means returning workers expecting to see the same status quo when they left, will instead find the present way of doing things quite different. Secondly, workers returning from long-term unemployment will need help regaining the rhythm of work life again. In either case, relying upon informal training and orientation processes is a thing of the past. |
The first step in developing a solid Re-Boarding approach is to capture an accurate snapshot of the key processes, policies, and programs workers need to learn to be successful in their new positions. LEAN Office events are a proven way to gather the cross-functional input quickly and accurately while also identifying improvements.
